Re: FC best practice workflow: Modelling Moving Part(s)
Thank you to r-frank, microelly2 and mario52. I appreciate you using your time to respond. If I understand you correctly, the 'best/intend workflow is: 1. For 2D use the Sketch WB and the Macro Constraint Draft 2. Use pad tool etc to get the 3D model in "the usual way" 3. For the just buil...

FC best practice workflow: Modelling Moving Part(s)
Hi, I've searched the forums and still am not sure what is the FC best practice. I'm using the Ubuntu daily builds. I'd like to make a sketch and a 3D model of it that moves. To be specific I'm trying to do something like what is shown in the attached animated GIF. The critical feature is where the ...

Re: Starting parts
I am currently using some parts that are available under the license: Creative Commons Attribution - Non Commercial - Share Alike 3.0 Unsupported Licence Does the FreeCAD library license allow these models/files to be contributed. Obviously the original author would be acknowledged in the commit and...

Thanks, I'll look at that.Willem wrote:Hi, it is only a wild guess, but in the video you see that in the snap menu which has 15 icons ONLY the lock, center and perpendicular options are selected. When more options are selected the program can snap to the wrong points

Re: Draft WB: Taking measurements (centered & perpendicular)
One more tip: when using FreeCAD in Ubuntu it is difficult to tell the difference between which Draft WB > Snap buttons are selected and which buttons are not selected. We can change that by clicking to Edit (pull-down menu) > Preferences > General (icon in left pane) > General (tab at top of right...

Re: Crash FreeCAD: Draft WB > Draft Edit tool
The problem is that nowhere in your topic subject or content do you mention what the bug is really about. Apologies. I honestly thought "Crash FreeCAD:" was explicit about what crashed. People would logically assume that the Draft Edit tool crashes when editing Draft objects, which is not...

Re: Crash FreeCAD: Draft WB > Draft Edit tool
Hi NormanC, Thanks for looking at this. It would help if you described here the issue so viewing the screencast wasn't necessary. In my experience a creencast is far more efficient and most importantly definitive. That is, it answers the question: What "exactly" did you do before the crash...
