No, if you have problems just make sure that the helix doesn't start or end at the seam of the bolt blank.

Re: pad and revolve the same sketch

I agree that Part WB > Sweep is probably best for what you want to do, but using 0.16 you could also select a face of Revolution, and then use the Draft WB > Trim / Extend tool: http://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/images/archive/e/e9/20161214142642%21Draft_Trimex.svg to extrude the face: 20170329b.png 20...

Re: Welder looking to be more efficient using FreeCAD

I get similar results when trying to add Draft to the end faces too. Instead of using Draft you can crate a Sketch of a triangle on a side face, then Pocket "Through All". If you make the triangle legs the same length as the side of the tube steel and the Pocket fails, try extending the tr...

Re: OpenScad import: Unsupported Function r....

Sorry, I forgot to answer this: In trying to open an OpenScad file I get a small dialog box saying "Unsported Function: r..." but have no idea how to read the full text of the error. Try View (pull-down menu) > Panels and tick Report View and Python Console to True. Next go to Edit > Prefe...

Re: 2016/2017 Holiday Thread

Just a quick note to write that I have other things going on right now so there is not much time I can spend on FreeCAD. I expect to be absent (or at best scarce) for several months but will contribute as time allows.

Re: Welder looking to be more efficient using FreeCAD

The profile data is in blt files See https://github.com/jreinhardt/BOLTS/tree/master/data For example the european hollow profiles are defined in this file: https://github.com/jreinhardt/BOLTS/blo ... hollow.blt It is an easy to understand file format. Having the imperial profiles in BOLTS would be...

Someone wrote about the desire to cable tray routing in FreeCAD, but I can't find the topic.
Maybe it was @PrzemoF ?

Re: New to FreeCad but not to CAD

Hi thatguy, and welcome! The end goal for me at this stage is to produce a part that has an extrusion in the middle, and 2 mirrored multi sketch lofts (1 either side of the extrusion). Is this something that is achieveable in FreeCad Without seeing the part I'll say that yes, it's possible in FreeCA...
