Re: Helix machining for circular holes

I did get this working and it produces very nice paths! I sent you a pm about specific implementation issues. When clearing a circular hole, it does a helical descent, then rapids out, moves over the step width and repeats with progressively larger helices. I'm curious if users would also like to s...

Re: Doesn't appear the robotic workbench in my freeCAD v.014

please somebody know how the activate or install the robotic workbench.. Thank you. The easiest way to make sure everything is working as it should would be to get the latest release version of FreeCAD. You can find it from here - Download FreeCAD 0.14 is several 3 years out of date! Mark

Re: How do i pad extra thickness to this area?

NormandC,I understand I can pad a new sketch to fuse more thickness. I am wondering if there is relatively simple method I can use to copy the outer edge of the existing face in this area and mirror it symmetrically to create the new closed sketch? Or do i have to manually re draw it? Jee Bee has s...

Re: Can't figure out placement

Position corresponds to the origin in the original sketch. So if your feature is displaced from the origin, you'll have to translate the sketch Placement.Position to locate the feature exactly where you want it. The arithmetic is easier if the sketch is centred on the origin. Thanks a lot wandererf...

Re: hide measures

Inkscape has a CAM plugin that will do SVG to Gcode. Shapeoko has a page on their Wiki that lists other helpful tools for Inkscape as well.

Re: Part Slicing for Foam-Padded Case

Wouldn't it be better for the foam to be laying the other way, (horizontal), than what you show in your second pic? You do know that you can attach the FreeCAD file to your post and that would make it easier for us to come up with a solution. How thick are the foam pieces? 25 mm, 50? Give me a littl...

Re: Trouble with "create shape" utility

Without seeing the file, it is hard to say... Is that shape your using derived from a meshed object by any chance? The extra edges that would come from such a derived shape will lead to trouble.

Re: Can't fully constrain sketch Nor find broken portion in order to pad

So i have 2 more questions as it relates to the same draft. #1 I've determined i need to relocate a few holes in my design. but when i go back & change the original sketch which locates them. It doesn't update the location in the final version? But when i show visibility for that sketch it show...

Re: Issue converting Meshes to Solids

Hi rwhproductions, Welcome to FreeCAD and the forum. First off, any optical component that is represented as a mesh is for all real world application, basically invalid. A mesh can never be as accurate as a B-REP solid. Just the nature of the beast, a mesh had no round surface, just a series of tess...
