Re: Union of threads and cylinder "Shape is Invalid"
I hear you, and it is to be expected with software which is still under development. I wish I could find that one method that works for all scenarios, but if it these quirks are known issues that go deeper, than so be it. ;) Regarding the helix, I used an old script which will sweep along a path. He...

Re: Union of threads and cylinder "Shape is Invalid"
Gotcha, but it still doesn't make sense. This a bug or a rule? The 2nd example I attached was based off of two sketches. One for the large cylinder, and then a second one to pocket an outer ring using the same face as the first sketch. Why wouldn't that variation work? Perhaps the Boolean function d...

Re: Union of threads and cylinder "Shape is Invalid"
why do you still have coincidences with a sweep end and the seam edge of the cylindrical face! I proved to you with that last iteration that, that is a problem condition. 1 closed boundary per sketch. Hmm.. I don't know what to tell you. I mentioned in my last response that I tried all the techniqu...

Re: Union of threads and cylinder "Shape is Invalid"
Or so I thought. I went the next step further and pocketed an outer ring from the cylinder. I then tried all the techniques mentioned above, but continue to get Invalid Shape.

Re: Union of threads and cylinder "Shape is Invalid"
That worked. I also tried changing the helix length such that it does not complete the last coil at the same location as the start (basically, instead of wrapping 6 complete times, I had it wrap 5.9 times). I could then do a CUT without a problem, but FUSION still showed invalid. Not sure why it is ...

Re: Union of threads and cylinder "Shape is Invalid"
I searched for "Invalid Shape" and could not find any valid explanations that matched my situation. I'm not as much concerned with how to create a screw. This thread was more about why I'm having an issue joining two separate objects and what causes the Invalid Shape issue. Attached an exa...

Union of threads and cylinder "Shape is Invalid"
1. I created a cylinder 2. Created a sketch on the side of the cylinder of a triangle 3. Created a new helix sketch wrapping around the cylinder with a decent pitch and length 4. Ran a macro which extrudes along the helix path - I get a nice thread like pattern, similar to a screw 5. I then try to U...

Just tried, same issue. You did reduce the errors from 8 to 2, so that is progress

Re: Test request
Left with 2 errors during compile. Looks like linker issues. I do apologize if I'm doing something wrong here... Also, when I try to run it and create New, then change workspace to "Assembly", I get this error: "matplotlib not found, Plot module will be disabled No module named Assemb...

Re: Test request
I'm getting both compile errors and run time errors. If the compile errors are causing the runtime (assumption), then I should fix these first. I thought I had the latest lib pack: freecadlibs_8.1_x86_vc9 Looks like it includes Qt 4.5.2 If there is a newer lib pack, please advise. I am not able to u...
