Re: FEM: How to calculate required material thickness

Just a feedback: I didn't need to do any calculation at the end. I could manufacture with hydraulic scissor from sheets with 3mm thickness (max). I could make the sheets 60mm maximum height (physical limitation), so the final size became 3x60x210mm (and the longer one 3x60x270mm). The only question ...

Re: FEM: How to calculate required material thickness

If you're talking about the three small beams at the top, I'm not sure if FreeCAD will help you figure out how to size them. It will depend on two things: 1) The material that the beams are made of Stainless steel (the cheapest 1.4301/KO-33/AISI 304) 2) The amount of weight they are expected to hol...

FEM: How to calculate required material thickness

Hi, I would like to build a shutter similar to the attached image: _DSC8872.jpg (The image comes from this project page: http://www.archdaily.com/785802/living-in-alpine-village-skupaj-arhitekti ). The shutter which is 130kg, and has a 1000x3800x25mm size, is hold by three stainless steel sheets (si...

Re: Part-o-magic: Active Part/Body reinvented

DeepSOIC: I wanted to try your promising Part-o-matic workbench, I have freecad v0.17.7989, 20160715 (ubuntu 16.04 ppa). I made a Mod directory in ~/.FreeCAD/Mod, then cloned your project: git clone https://github.com/DeepSOIC/Part-o-magic, so I have a ~/.FreeCAD/Mod/Part-o-magic directory. I starte...

Re: Updated PartDesign workflow

Just and idea, which may help the migration.

Would not be wise to include the original file inside the fcstd file "as is" (like a zip inside a zip),
if it was created with 0.16 or less?
So at any point it could be falling back to the old (known to be working) version.

Re: Procedure to merge 3d party workbenches into FreeCAD

I think FreeCAD should be consisting of three pieces: - FreeCAD core - FreeCAD official modules - FreeCAD 3rd party modules And every module developers' goal should be to get their module into FreeCAD official modules repository. In a given FreeCAD release the release team could decide what offical ...

How to digitize a garden?

Hi, I would like to digitize a garden, which is not flat. So I measured the garden at specific points, and I have coordinates like this: 0,0,0 (bottom left corner of the garden) 22m,0m,1.8m (bottom right corner of the garden, 1.8 meter higher) 22m,5m,0m 22m,10m,-2.3m etc, etc. So I would like to crea...
