Re: Question about Part Feature

Finally, I have just managed to drag my CSG solid created by the Part workbench into a Part in the PartDesign workbench (part1.fcstd). Have I done it correctly? I think so, unfortunately there's a display bug in the Model tree when you drag & drop items on a Part, it makes a mess of duplicates:...

Re: Question about Part Feature

Also, suppose if I make a CSG solid under the Part workbench, then how can I make a part out of it? Currently I can't find anyway to do it under the Part or PartDesign workbench. To add it to PartDesign Part feature you would i guess simply drag and drop it in it (tree view). After you can move the...

Re: Highlighting unconstrained features in the sketch workbench (#1041)

It is not an easy undertaking the one you have selected. I will cost you time to fully understand what is happening in the code and then to find a way to achieve what you want. Thanks for your pointer, and it will take me the rest of this night to digest what you said. However, will understand this...

Re: Highlighting unconstrained features in the sketch workbench (#1041)

I had a good look at System::diagnose(). Initially, diagnose() sets up the matrix J where the first index (is this row or column?) represents a list of constraints, and the second index represents the parameters. So each constraint apparently has the full list of parameters to begin with: Eigen::Mat...

Re: Highlighting unconstrained features in the sketch workbench (#1041)

Thanks Abdullah! I start having a look at System::diagnose(Algorithm alg) in GCS.cpp right now. All I want is to fish a list of unconstrained features. So what is the most efficient way to get it? Once I get this list, I would love to color the unconstrained feature with a color that is different fr...

Making a part from an object created in the Part workbench

After seeing: https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/Assembly_Basic_Tutorial I understand that a body is a single piece of object that is created by PartDesign, and I can make an instance of that body as a part, with its own local coordinates. Then one or more parts can become a product (aka subassembly), ...

Highlighting unconstrained features in the sketch workbench (#1041)

As explained in issue #1041: https://freecadweb.org/tracker/view.php?id=1041 in a sketch, it is very easy to forget to join the points together, and as a result, it is easy to accidentally leave features unconstrained, which is very difficult to debug. Currently, the SketchObject::getLastDoF checks ...

Re: What's new in PartDesign Next

I have a question of my own for you, kcleung: Thanks Ickby. So I will run the PartDesign tutorial first to ensure I know the inside out of the operations of PartDesign, then hopefully I can start looking at this bug from next week. I am fluent in C++, and also have a working knowledge of Python. Ho...

Re: What's new in PartDesign Next

bodies will be the equivalent of parts in, for eg, autodesk inventor, I've never seen inventor, so no idea... parts can be used as assemblies? Yes. Are bodies also subclasses of parts? Well, kind of. Grouping functionality is added as an extension , by multiple inheritance. So if you test body for ...
