Re: Forum staging environment now available

Videos don't play automatically, you need to click/tap on the play button in the centre of the video. Ok, that's what I wanted, great to see that I already have what I want! :-) I totally understand and sympathize. I've heard the horror stories of Australian Internet. Not really, Internet access he...

Re: Forum staging environment now available

Video tags should now be fixed! Thank you so much! :) Hi guys, can videos be disabled if you don't want to see them? It would be much better to have to click or something rather than automatically playing, and hence downloading potentially considerable amounts of data. This is of importance to thos...

Re: Sectioning A Sphere And Extruding Between Sections

Basically want to make a tablet shape with 1/4 sphere's at all four corners. Is it better to start with a rectangular box or start with 4 sphere sections and fill in or extrude between them? I don't understand what you want. Do you mean a tablet as in medication or a computer? Perhaps you could mod...

Re: Want to record macros for add-on workbenches

Your first post, welcome to FreeCAD. I wanted to learn how to record macros for the workbench Assembly2. I don't know the answer but it's very likely that your FreeCAD version data is relavent. The forum rules link at the top of the help forum will show you how to do this properly, so that all the d...

Re: Fusion operation creates broken object

for example, FreeCAD 0.17 on Ubuntu still used the very old oce from Ubuntu. Small correction, until recently FreeCAD used an older version from https://launchpad.net/~freecad-maintainers/+archive/ubuntu/oce-release , newer than what may be available form the default repos, depending on your versio...

Re: Fusion operation creates broken object

Well, actually there is - each distro may use different library versions, so an update of FreeCAD 0.17 would not automatically mean that there is also an update for OCC available, thus if the bug is in OCC then the newer FreeCAD version would not really help... I see the point. I checked with this ...

Re: Fusion operation creates broken object

So.. is the fix in FreeCAD 0.17 or in occ? I am a bit confused now :) Sometimes it can even be a combination of both! :D It's likely OCC but to be clear, FreeCAD must be run with the same (almost) version of OCC that it was compiled with and with some of the compile time options set the same. So if...

Re: Fusion operation creates broken object

However I would still like to clarify one thing: was my initial version "illegal" and did you work around some bugs in FreeCAD by designing the part the way you did it? No, I don't think your version was illegal. I think it is a kernel bug, which has been removed in the upcoming 0.17 vers...

Your FreeCAD version is rediculously obsolete, update to the last release version, 0.16. You will find a huge range of updates and bug fixes.

Re: STL files appear to be missing some of an object's attributes

What am I doing wrong? This has been posted about here many times, just select the item you want to export, usually just the last stage in your history then export that to STL....... You have selected everything hence you get an STL that's something like all your model's history fused together. Fo...
