Re: Solids within a solid that are meshable by gmsh (solved)

Hello NJ
Thanks a whole lot. The compound function is exactly what I needed. There is still the problem of trying to attach bounderies but that is for another forum.

Thanks again.

Solids within a solid that are meshable by gmsh

Hi all, I seem to be returning to some form of this question again and again. The following refers to 3D cases. If I have a solid of material A and I have internal structure of material B where I want gmsh to mesh each solid separately and I want to assign different boundary conditions to each, how ...

surrounding 3D object with gas atmosphere

When using 2D representations where there is an object that surrounded by a gas, I finally found that using the surface tool bench on the sketch worked and allowed me to export my file as a .brep file to gmsh for meshing. I have used this method to do modeling with ElmerFem a lot and it has been ver...

Getting rid of joint lines in assembly 4

Hi all. I just attempted my first use of Assembly 4. I need to build a hollow box with thick sides. So I created a single side and am assembling the box by repeated use of this same file six times. Yes I know that there are easier ways but kiss it off as a learning experience. I understand that the ...

Re: Surrounding irregular object with atmosphere

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately part of the modeling is to see the mixing of different gasses. The problem extends beyond the outlet nozzle.

Surrounding irregular object with atmosphere

Normally when doing a 2D model of something, I surround the model with a box to represent the atmosphere or some such. But this model (see attachment) Is so irregular that that doesn't work. With the model shown, gmsh meshes over the whole model. Does anyone have any suggestions for handling this si...

Re: assembly 4 and existing part files

Thanks for the reply. That helped some. The new model icon creates a part and an assembly sub directory instead of part and model sub directory. I assume that assembly and model are the same thing. True?

Re: assembly 4 and existing part files

I found "FreeCAD Assembly 4 workbench technical manual" on Zolko's Git page. It has a complete workflow layed out at the end of the file. Unfortunately, the very first instruction Create a new document, create a new 'Model' with the macro 'new_Model'. This will create a new App::Part calle...

assembly 4 and existing part files

All of the tutorials that I have found, build the parts after the creation of the workbench file. I have 3 files of parts that have to be assembled into a single entity. I can set up the Assembly 4 file but can't seem to figure out how to include my 3 part files. I've been using Freecad 0.2 for some...

Re: Freecad 2D brep files failed to show up in gmsh {solved}

My sketch essentially contains 3 parts. If I use the surface workbench on each part separately and then highlite all 3 surfaces to export, gmsh works fine.
I included the new file.
