Re: Ticket 0002972: TechDraw PDF export from Python can only make PDFs of a Page in foreground

Implementing a TechDraw-specific PDF export might not be too hard... Something in the same mold as the current SVG export: https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/blob/master/src/Mod/TechDraw/Gui/QGVPage.cpp#L556 but that uses a QPrinter instead of the QSvgGenerator, it seems to basically work the same w...

Re: Robot Workbench development

Indeed, the robot WB has been developed by Jürgen in one shot many years ago, and since then has seen almost no further developement. It would be great to see it developed further. Like Jim says, tell us about your ideas!

Re: Demonstrating coding abilities

Not from sketches, because sketches can only be strictly planar. But rebars can also be made from any kind of wire, and wires don't need to be planar.

Re: Help regarding IFC

Indeed I also had a look at that already, it seems it is not available in IFC. There are possible workarounds, of course, for example giving the rebar a custom property, that would hold a reference to the hosting structural object. But that is not a very standard thing to do, and no other app would ...

Re: dxf import problems windows version

There are open gaps in your drawing, that prevent FreeCAD from closing wires. You might try to tweak the Preferences->Draft-> precision and tolerance values, it might work, but the best way would be to fix things in the dxf file itself.

Re: Converting Dimensions to SVG Format

okay.. the reason that the getSVG function fails is that it's not correctly made to work without the GUI. in ead006131 I now fixed this so you won't get an error anymore, but some objects -like dimensions- currently require to be with the GUI open for them to be exported to SVG, so a workaround will...

Re: Option between creating the walls walltrace, as sketch or as draft

That's a good idea. I think it should be not only a preference option but also a checkbox in the wall task panel so you could switch between the two anytime during your work session... Would you mind creating an issue in the tracker for it?

Re: Arch Window on Non-Linear Wall?

obtaining a normal depends on your shape. In DraftGeomUtils module there is a getNormal() function that tries to obtain a normal from any shape you give to it. Better be it a flat shape, otherwise the result can be not what you want. But for something flat (face or wire(s)) it works well. This will ...
