Re: OCC trouble or something else?
Dependancy graph is here . This makes me think of a project I did 5 years ago. The model was so complex that I broke it down into 3 different files. I was working with Solid Edge, which would allow me to import a parametric part as a dumb solid into a new document (I believe SolidWorks does...

Re: How do you rotate a sweep/solid?
Joe, Mark didn't specifically mention it, but the Draft Array command actually creates a compound. You can check whether a shape is a shell (enclosed hollow volume), a solid or a compound (grouped shapes) with the "check geometry" tool in the Part workbench. It will also report geometry er...

Re: Adding to or cutting away from an STL possible or not?
As Jim said it sounds like your mesh is complex and has a lot of triangles. Converting such a mesh to a solid will incur a performance hit on the system, that's for sure. Then I think it may be best if you simply work on the mesh itself, rather than trying to convert it to a solid. As I said, to do ...

Re: Adding to or cutting away from an STL possible or not?
Yes, RTFM might be an idea when intuition isn't doing the trick but i ask it anyway to give the developers some insight in the 'biginners experience'. The matter is difficult, because CAD is a complex field and FreeCAD's aim is to cater to everyone, from experienced CAD users to newcomers. The fact...

Re: Adding to or cutting away from an STL possible or not?
Hello BackEMF, One thing you need to know is that an STL is a polygonal mesh model, while FreeCAD is foremost a solid modeler. Those are totally different types of geometry. It explains why most of FreeCAD's tools won't work on meshes (and it is the case for all CAD software). FYI, in the profession...

Re: Create manufacturing drawing from 3D part
Hello Cory, Welcome here. The Drawing workbench is currently missing dimensioning tools. It's being worked on by a developer, but it might take some time before it appears in the main development branch - when that happens, it will be available in the Daily Builds PPA, which I'm assuming is the vers...

Re: Boolean Operations Problem
Hello Nate, I'm really impressed with your model. It looks like the body of a Gibson Les Paul, am I right? I've been wanting to model a complete guitar (acoustic in my case) in FreeCAD for a long time, but never managed to dedicate the time to it. Last time I spent on it I was completely stomped wit...

Re: Fillet fails in some cases
In retrospect this topic should probably go in "Help on using FreeCAD" rather than in Open discussion.
Thus I'm moving the topic.

Re: Need more options for Loft tool
Hello Konstantin, It's a coincidence that you posted about a guitar body the same day as someone else. See Boolean Operations Problem by NateM. I'm thinking you might have more success doing a solid loft with profile sections parallel to the XZ plane in your file. I would also tend to make the profi...
