Re: Current state of documentation - Your feedback as contributor
Excellent thread! I'd be really happy to carry this effort further, and the more people participate, the better! What for me are the big points so far: There is large support towards migrating out of mediawiki. There is a series of technical reasons, and we see similar moves elsewhere (Blender is do...

Re: Structural Steel Detailing - CET.SteelConnDesign ?
Amazing work!! I'd love if that could become open-source one day... Have you considered it? There could be ways to make money out of it in other ways, like offering support or assets... And it could tap into a much larger pool of users, and get help from FreeCAD developers too. Just saying

I can't reproduce the error here neither... Make sure you have the latest version of the NativeIFC addon? This might have been solved already...

Re: BIM WB: shapes very distant from the origin, in the imported DXF file
Indeed that problem happens quite often... I think the best way here would be a kind of "relocate to center" tool. This could be a macro. It could do something like this: - Get the selected objects - Add the bounding boxes to make one big bounding box - Get the center of that bounding box ...

Re: Version Control Support in FreeCAD
Another thing that is IMHO very important, the main motivation for cloud services, specially those attached to a CAD application, is basically to make your files hostage so you keep paying the subscription forever. You stop paying, you loose your work. The "there is no file any more" conce...

Re: GSoC 2024 mentoring orgs announced
And once again, at this point, we need two things: 1) People wanting to be mentors . Mentoring is not hard, it does not require big technical skills, but it requires dedication. You should be ready to spend around 2 or 3h/week with your student, possibly with some video meetings. Projects can run fo...

GSoC 2024 - Open for proposals
GSoC 2024 is around the corner! Applications are now open for orgs, and we are applying. I'm starting a https://wiki.freecad.org/index.php?title=Google_Summer_of_Code_2024 wiki page for it. Feel free to edit and add your ideas! This is also a call for mentors. If you are interested in mentoring a GS...

Re: The design group
I said the forum CAN BE toxic. Not that it always was or that it does not have totally nice people and discussions too. Both can be true at the same time. Sorry if anyone felt directly criticized, it's just how I sometimes feel myself there, and many others say so too. And I'm as much a culprit as a...
