(sourceforge) location blocked by Norton

Post by MechScientist »

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, so please forgive me if this is in the wrong discussion group. I'd like to try out the assembly module but Norton says that sf.net is dangerous and blocks me from getting there. Any thoughts, anyone?

Regards

Reason: edit topic to say sourceforge, it was originally posted saying GitHub, yet the post is clearly about SF

Hi!
I haven't tried it myself. Apparently you are attempting to clone from sourceforge with git (not github). There is something bad going on about sourceforge indeed, and it doesn't really surprise me it managed to get blacklisted by Norton.

for latest assembly code you should checkout https://github.com/jriegel/FreeCAD/comm ... embly-next
but note that you won't find anything useful yet.

Wow! That's pretty bad for sourceforge...

I wonder if its due to that controversy where they were bundling other software into Open Source software and some of there other behaviour? Or is it just an accident/error?

Norton probably considers doing that constitutes mal-ware, and I wouldn't blame Norton for it. How far SF has fallen...
