Re: FCGear
Hello Renato.
My point about Installation was meant a little different.
The /Mod - Directory where to put the workbench is located
on Linux in your /.FreeCAD - directory (which is hidden).
You might even have to create it yourself.
On Windows it is located in the Installation-directory of FreeCAD.
Maybe you take a look at the Installation Instructions for Drawing Dimensioning (Readme.MD)

Maybe you need a special feature, go into Macros_recipes and Code_snippets, Topological_data_scripting.

Re: FCGear
EDIT: Jee-Bee you are right, my screens are horrible.
Hi,
perhaps I have not explained well, I speak of installation in Windows, in linux I have not tried it yet.
Maybe two one images help you understand what I mean. Attached images show the 'working installation' and 'Incorrect installation', for me.

I prefer only the image what works. Makes it more clearrenatorivo wrote:Maybe two images help you understand what I mean. Attached images show the 'working installation' and 'Incorrect installation', for me.
Re: FCGear
Just found out:
Since FCGear requires "NUMPY", which is only included since FreeCAD 0.15.4671, it won't run on older versions of FreeCAD
Added that info to its Macro-Page (the new one).

Re: FCGear
thanks for the wiki entries.
I will change the directory structure of the master-branch.
There is also a branch which provides a pip installable version. (pip install freecad_gear). For me this is the better solution to integrate this into freecad, as it can be used also as a pure python-package outside freecad. But I don't know if pip also works on other platforms then linux...

Ok Mariomario52 wrote:@Renatorivo you want to erase the old page
About installation in Linux, tested with:
OS: Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.16.5838 (Git)
Build type: None
Branch: master
Hash: cc3fee5f9c9315efc021e2e1b78a675c7b2356ed
Python version: 2.7.6
Qt version: 4.8.6
Coin version: 4.0.0a
OCC version: 6.8.0.oce-0.17
Here are the screen with the 'workbench gear' active in linux and the location of the folder 'gear'
No installation problems, but you must open .Mod as administrator and you must give access permissions to all files. Very simple.

Re: FCGear
Hello,
I am having trouble installing FCgear.
Using a WIN 10 32bit pc with FC version 16.
I tried both the manual method--coping files into the /Mod directory and using the addons.installer.FCmacro. The latter successfully installed two other workbenches--the fasteners and the CURA slicer. However the gear workbench does not appear in the dropdown of available workbenches, though the addons installer says its installed. I uninstalled and reinstalled with no success.
Thanks for any ideas. It looks like a great addition to freecad.

Re: FCGear
Hi,
tested now (Win10, FreeCAD0.16):
download FCGear-master.zip
unzip
copy FCGear-master into C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\FreeCAD\Mod
Create Mod, if it does not exist.
