Using Arch SectionPlane on imported Iges format geometry

Post by bitacovir »

I imported a geometry (hinge) with iges format into a project where I am working. I did it as iges format because I do not know hot to import FCStd files into another project.
My problem is when I use Arch SectionPlane, I can not create a Draft Shape2DView of the iges format object.

Is there any error message? Can you share the iges file?

I take it that you exported the hinge to iges from FreeCAD?
If so make sure Enable B-REP mode is checked in preferences before exporting.

To import the .FCstd file directly use File > Merge Project...

Thanks sgrogan. That was the problem. And now I can work with FCstd, too. Funny but I thought I was not possible to import a FCstd because I saw a tutorial saying that and suggesting to open this file and to export it as iges for import.
