3D Printer Improvement

Post by nemesis »

Hi,
some image of my first 3D printed Part with Freecad, and that's a part for my 3D printer....

here above the graph for the design. quite not a "standard" linear design, but an horizontal one.
No External geometry link, but indeed a Big Thank to the WorkFeature macro! it allows a lot of quick modification by manually doing projection into sketch, and nothings break when One modification is done.
(well except for filleting....)

and of course the part ;)

note this little detail, which I thought was a graphical bug, but indeed it's on the part .... fillets....

Hello nemesis,

That's a very cool looking complex part.

Fillets are often annoyingly fussy... At least you were apparently able to generate a valid STL file.

I really need to resurrect my AO-100 (MendelMax-based) 3D printer! :?

By the way:

You are a few commits behind the last release, which is 0.16.6703.

indeed, the truth is I'm working with 2 system.
the part are mainly designed on this one:

OS: Mac OS X
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.16.6704 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: (detached from 0c449d7)
Hash: 0c449d7e8f9b2b1fb93e3f8d1865e2f59d7ed253
Python version: 2.7.11
Qt version: 4.8.7
Coin version: 3.1.3
OCC version: 6.8.0.oce-0.17

I switch to Debian on a Virtual machine when I start Filleting... due to this Bug on OS X (well It seems only present on OSX.
in fact I test 0.17 on OS X, with OCC7.0 and with this version I have no crash.
but for a full design, 0.17 and part design Next or still too young.
I test it time to time, as I really like the new workflow, but wait for the OCC7 merging in master...
At least you were apparently able to generate a valid STL file.
even with this false graphical bug, the check of geometry shows no error. that's a bad fillet result, but a good surface lol

I really need to resurrect my AO-100 (MendelMax-based) 3D printer!
For Sure!
