Yes! Thanks.

You saw the the geometry I just couldn't visualize how to create. :D

On reviewing I think the triangle surface from the back shelf upward that "Bance" shows is the correct solution. Haven't worked out how to link in someone's name yet :( .

You need the user's id to "ping" him. Either from the all users list or from another post:
- search a post from the user
- quote the post using the icon at the right top of the post
- replace everything between starting quote tag and the end tag with the word "ping".
- remove post_id and time with the corresponding values from the quote start tag

For user Bance it would look like this:

Code: Select all

[quote=Bance user_id=5418]
ping
[/quote]
yielding this:

Thank you chrisb.

GlouGlou, I think the symbol might mean a machined face as the object started life as a casting.

Yes, it took me a while to find that. I don't think I ever found a reference to it in the 880+ pages of the textbook.

It indicates a machined surface on a casting.

I think it was replaced with the more common check mark looking symbol with a number indicating the surface finish.
(I'm guessing the check mark became common as the capability to machine surfaces improved from simply machined to being able to specify roughness, etc.)
