Hello good people, what a great project! I have a lot of CAD experience, but not so much recently, and have long awaited a free package like this. My highest praise and thanks!

I have what I hope is a silly problem. I have created a, well what I thought was a part, but I cannot select it for creating a drawing. I can select e.g. individual extrusions, and get views of them, but not the whole part. The thing is made entirely from sketches and extrusions with cuts and lofts, with no primitives (so I assume no actual CSG?). When I go to the Drawing workbench I can insert a drawing format but when I try to insert a view, it gives me 'select a part' while the top item in the tree is selected so no joy.

I will attach the file, yes I know there are better ways to model this part but this is my first FreeCAD project and if this part is actually made, it will be modeled in Inventor first anyway. Quick and dirty. The attachment utility didn't like the file extension FCStd1 so I copied it and changed the extension to FCStd

TIA

Thank you sir, but that command does not appear to be available . . . . . . .

NO WAIT! :-D It works after selecting all the pieces!

IT WORKS! PROBLEM SOLVED. JUST LIKE THAT! No "alas poor yorik" here! :-)

Looking good, but I guess the dimensioning functionality is not ready?

Thanks so much, this is a great project and I hope to be able to contribute to the effort before long

In FreeCAD you can do much by adding dimensions in Draft WB and after project that on drawing sheet in Drawing WB (powerful but a bit more complex for new users). Or you can use 3rd party drawing dimensioning workbench (easy to use and fast results):

Nice! Thanks, I'll give it a go when I get a chance.

I got done what I needed to do this weekend, thanks to FreeCAD, so it's time for some recreation.

Cheers!
