cuts, fusings, fillets order matters.

Post by industromatic »

I found that when i made some cuts, fusings, fillets order matters. I could not edit by making a fillet on the final cut -- got a
BREP_API: command not done message. So I tried editing lower down, but with fusings and cuts intact -- no go -- the fillet got put down as a separate object, and the cut, with its offsets was not modified.

So, what I eventually did was delete the cut, take notes on paper about the fine tuned offset it had, delete a fusing under it, edit the edges of a wedge shape with fillet, reapply fuse, reapply cut, enter offset.

If it shows fine with all that manipulation, what is stopping the fillet from working as a cut of a fusing?

Is my hope of being able to do fillets on interior corners as seen in the above model a lost cause?

filleting can be challenging in any CAD system. This is especially true for opencascade. Your best bet is, to post the file and let us experiment with it.

editing the fillet works with a bunch of manual notes followed to undo, then redo cuts and fusings.

I'm just asking is that the state of the CAD, or is it possible to edit lower level fillets some?

I found that I can edit some lower level objects and have the rest of the model update just fine.

Editing a wedge worked fine, and a cylinder.

When you ask to create a fillet on an edge like this edge selected, (green), no luck:

Don't apply bottom blends so early.
Run part/refine shape to "'merge' planar faces.
run fillet up both sides then apply top and bottom blends.

Does using part/refine shape help the fillet along the combined edge work without problems?

Does part/refine shape work on interior corners -- 90 degree or even 60 degree acute interior corners?
I'll be trying it.
