Hello.

Reached Level 1.
Lower Body complete and dimensions looking good.

With luck i will find time tomorrow evening to continue.
When finished I will produce a video about the making of the case ...

[Side note: even with the board (8.3 MB Step file size) inserted as simple copy my Quadcore takes some time for draft move an operations alike.
I think i will start taking a peek at the memory usage from time to time to see if we reach some kind of limit ...]

Hi Roland,
you could try to use this model created with my kicad StepUp tools for FreeCAD

connectors are coming from this FC repo, with some slight modification to fit the pcb footprints
https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD-libr ... components
I placed only pcb and connectors... it is much lighter ... if you need more electronic parts, please let me know

licence for this model is CC-BY 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ as the original library of 3D parts, so it is sharable :)

automatically ? Author of this video just makes proper rectangles, circles and cut out holes but it seems to me too much manual (anyway I do
the same in my designs) but maybe it could be improved somehow.
What do you mean by automatic? where would you get the information from about the cutouts?
I am just asking if there is an option ? I've seen this in some other video in YT. I can't find URL but I assume that was Solid Edge functionality.

@Roland so far good job. Waiting for a movie.

I can't find this yt video. It's not exactly that I meant but it's useful anyway. Is similar tool included in FC ?

I have not tested so far, but there exist an old macro to make enclosures. See this thread: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=6983
The macro from the last post seems to run.

Hi, this is a very nice macro that can solve some enclosure case...
it would be nice to have it in Macro Recipes...
it will generate a parametric box, but with symmetrical anchors and without cutouts ...

Anyway, for a general enclosure, having a tutorial in building the box and cutouts would be very useful :)

Totally agree + adding some tips about how to design enclosure to be useful in real world.
What I mean design enclosure which joints two parts together by screws, clips. How to design
both side of enclosure(bottom + lid) to easy hold in position etc.
This will be really nice tutorial if some one will make it, if not... I will do it as soon as I get familiar to those topics very well in FreeCAD.

Since i used several different approaches and different workflows in my model i think the video
should be more a tutorial than a competition entry.

Starting recording now ...
