Multiple Parts on a drawing sheet.

Postby davecoventry » Mon Jan 02, 2017 6:28 am

If I go to the Drawing WB and insert a new A2 Drawing, I want to insert a plan view and side elevations, so I click teh "Insert new view" button, but it asks me to select a part object.

If I select all the parts I want on my drawing, I get a list of views in the table, all with the scale at 1

Hi, you have to select only the part that is on the top of the tree. All other pads and pockets are not to be selectes

I don't understand.

Select one part? Does that work? All I see is a blank sheet.

Hi, here an example, the fusion represents the total design, so only that must be selected together with the page, the underlaying pockets pads and fusion must not be selected

I need a fusion part?

I selected all items and used the boolean union tool to combine the parts into one fusion object, but it doesn't help.

Hi Dave, I see in your design several red exclamation marks for the fusion, view and ortho_0_0. Delete those corrupt items. You can select more than one objects to do in a drawing, but I did not think that you have a design with over 200 objects, so I thought in my previous post that you selected all steps you did to make one object. Can you post your drawing here or in Dropbox

Hi Willem,

I tried to create fusion objects of small groups of elements, but almost all of them have red exclamation marks.

I'd like to upload the file, but it's a piece of equipment a friend of mine is developing: he wouldn't appreciate it being accessible to his competitors!

Hi Dave, the red exclamation marks mean that something is wrong, I understand you can not upload the file on the forum but perhaps you can upload the dependency graph of your design. Did you do an "Analyze geometry for errors" check.

A good tutorial about working with drawings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMOCBA7ptEo

Hi Willem,

I have been unable to locate the problem.

I can't seem to find any errors, but the assemble refuses to fuse:

Code: Select all

Exception (Sun Jan  8 08:16:07 2017): Fusion failed

Hi Dave,

the steps I made for placing the model on a drawing sheet:
- I made in the part workbench a simple copy of the lofts
- I created a group that contains all simple copies that belong to the tableframe ( I had to check which elements belonged to the tableframe and which not)
- I made in the part workbench a compound of all elements in the group
- I created a drawing
- I inserted the compound to the drawing
