When I open FreeCAD and from FreeCAD choose File > Open, I don't have a network icon either (I'm using Ubuntu 16.04). What you could try instead is to use your file manager to browse the network and locate your file, then see if a right-click shows "Open with FreeCAD" in the pop-up menu. This is somewhat of a guess because I don't know how similar or different my version of Ubuntu is from your version of openSUSE...

Under Linux we are using Qt's implementation of a file dialog instead of the native dialog because of various problems. No idea if Qt offers a function to return network shares. But at least when you mount a share you should be able to access it from the file dialog.

@Idealos, I don't know about the fix, but wouldn't an easy workaround be to just save to your laptop, then move the FreeCAD .fcstd file to your network?

Hi,
Undoubtedly, it is what we are doing now, but it's not the best way to work in network, because the files are duplicated, and we can't control the jobs. I ask from ignorance, so difficult is to solve this?
Thank you very much

You could mount the network folder in your home folder somewhere, did you try that?
Need help? Feel free to ask, but please read the guidelines first
