PC Specification for fast FreeCAD

Post by Trygon »

I am considering purchasing a new laptop and wondered what items make the most difference in terms of FreeCAD performance. I think the key specs are:
1) Processor: Core i3 -> Core i5 -> Core i7
2) Memory: 4GB -> 8GB -> 16GB
3) Graphics: Intel Integrated -> Nvidia/AMD GPU with 2GB dedicated graphics memory
4) Storage: HDD -> SSD

Thanks.

Which OS do you intend to use? Windows? Ubuntu? Other Linux, which Window Manager?
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

I think that the most important thing is make sure that the GPU has good open GL support.
