I am a complete beginner working through the youtube tutorials. I'm stuck in lesson 3 casino dice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBKhBwSP_iM&t=1249s
All appeared OK when I completed all 6 faces until I noticed that I could see the pockets on some faces but not on others (using as-is). However when I switch to wire frame I can see the pockets. I don't quite understand the toggle visibility as yet - I wonder if I could have hidden the pockets and kept the sketch visible?
I have made the pocket depth 2mm to make it easier to see.
I've tried deleting the pocket/sketch from the selected face and redoing from scratch with the same result. I tried copying the dice.fcstd file to another PC with different video hardware with the same result.
I have attached a picture showing "missing pockets", and my dice.fcstd file, any pointers appreciated
Thanks

Re: Cannot see pocket in casino dice tutorial
you can see in your screen shot that you have more than one item visible, usually you hide the previous steps and only show the last one, this normally happens automatically initially. Also check that you have not forked your model's history, check that using the dependency graph.alecjames wrote:, and my dice.fcstd file, any pointers appreciated
Thanks

Thanks jmaustpc
I don't think I have 2 items visible - the image is a composite with a snap from wire frame, see below, sorry for the confusion.
Is "dependency graph" an add on module that I have to install?

Hello Alec.
On the left side there is the tree view.
Visible objects are "bright", invisible objects are greyed out.
Please make all objects in the tree view(including all sketches) exept the last one (pocket008) invisible and you should
get a picture in the 3D as it should be ...

Thanks Roland
Is it that the tree view shows the order of construction from top to bottom; so if I have a higher element visible (bight) it shows me the part as it was at that point in the sequence of construction? i.e. without the pockets that are below it in the tree?

Hello Alec,
Welcome to this forum.
Welcome to this forum.
Exactly. And if you have more than one visible, they superimpose each other and produce the effect you're seeing.alecjames wrote:Is it that the tree view shows the order of construction from top to bottom; so if I have a higher element visible (bight) it shows me the part as it was at that point in the sequence of construction?

Re: Cannot see pocket in casino dice tutorial
this video is obsolete, made in V16 and is not updated for version 17 to 19
you can refer to it with the Part workshop but you will have to do Boolean subtraction With Partdesign, this is no longer the way to do it
