I am trying to model my house in FreeCAD, so I prefer Z-axis always being vertical.

There is a macro FCCamera in the macro section of the FreeCAD homepage which might help.
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

Hello matkor,

Welcome to the FreeCAD forum. It is not possible to lock an axis for the rotation.

Here's the direct link to the macro chrisb mentioned: Macro_FCCamera

There's also the turntable utility in the Tools menu, but it creates an animation, you need to click Play then Stop, so it's difficult to stop at an exact position.
