Guide me on how to create this part for my tablet stand

Post by olspookishmagus »

Hello I am making a tablet stand and I need some help on how to create the part I will showcase in FreeCAD.

First of all I am supplying my FreeCAD information:

Code: Select all

OS: Debian GNU/Linux 9.0 (stretch)
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.16.
Build type: None
Python version: 2.7.13
Qt version: 4.8.7
Coin version: 4.0.0a
OCC version: 6.8.0.oce-0.17
And here are my part's pics and sketches:
Front sketch and pic
Side sketch and pic
Top/bottom sketch and top pic and bottom pic.

I'm stuck on how to create the legs and this and this are screenshots of my failed attempts.

I think I need a further grasp of the notion of the Sketcher Construction mode even though I will appreciate any guidance.

Thanks in advance.

Hello olspookishmagus ! Welcome to FreeCAd and the forum :)
In the future please just attach the .png's to your posts. The links are a little time consuming.
From your links, it seems you have multiple solids visible at the same time causing z-fighting.
Could you post your .FCStd file here?

Ok, noted.

Sure, I have attached it.

I'm stuck as to how can I create a sketch that will allow me to do a YZ sketch that will become pocket through all the surface so that the legs will then have the shape of a two thick perpendicular lines, like in the relevant sketch:

I think I might have to use the Create an edge linked to an external geometry button, am I right?

Well using the external geometry tool didn't work as anticipated.
