Hello,
I’m wondering what would be the best approach to both pad and revolve a sketch, resulting in a solid which is straight for some length, then has a bend, then proceeds straight again?
I created my sketch from within Part Design, and then revolved it 60 degrees. I then attempted to select either of the faces of the resulting solid so that I could pad them, but could not figure out how to do this.
It is of course entirely possible that I’m taking the wrong approach … I’m new to all this.
Many thanks,
Richard

Re: pad and revolve the same sketch
Hi!
The easiest way to achieve it is to use Part Sweep.
Padding and revolving a single sketch twice is impossible within 0.16's PartDesign. But you can do it with Part Revolve and Part Extrude.
PartDesign in v0.17 allows you to revolve/extrude an arbitrary face, effectively letting you to extrude/revolve a sketch twice. It also allows to re-use the sketch for another Pad/revolve directly, and it also has sweep!

Re: pad and revolve the same sketch
Thank you! I've managed to get some basic XY plane shapes to sweep along a path created as a sketch in the XZ plane. I'll definitely need to get a better handle on the workbenches and their appropriate use ...
Re: pad and revolve the same sketch
I agree that Part WB > Sweep is probably best for what you want to do, but using 0.16 you could also select a face of Revolution, and then use the Draft WB > Trim / Extend tool:
to extrude the face:
The resulting Extrusion is still separate from Revolution, so you'd have to use the Part WB > Boolean Union tool:
to make a Fusion of them.
