I want to constrain two points in Sketcher so they will remain always vertically aligned.
I now use a horizontal distance of 0mm. Is there a better way/another type of constraint In can use?

Re: Sketcher: vertically align points
Hello.
Welcome to FreeCAD and the forum.
In your Sketch, connect the two points with a line.
Select the line and change the line to construction mode
The line will turn from white to blue (construction lines are helping geometry which is not taken into account when
creating a pad or pocket).
Now apply a horizontal constraint to your blue helper line and you are done.

Re: Sketcher: vertically align points
Thank you for your reply, but I don't quite get it I'm afraid.
Let's say I have 2 circles, and I want a constraint to have them always vertically aligned.
What I now do is select the two center points and add a horizontal distance constraint of 0mm.
How would I do this otherwise, in this example?
Do you mean make a construction line, make a coincident constrain between line endpoints and circle centers, then a vertical constraint on the line?

OK, now I get it
Thank you!
Thank you!
Re: Sketcher: vertically align points
Hello bartovan and Roland,
This topic reminded me of a similar discussion we had here some time ago. In my opinion it would be very useful if the horizontal and vertical constraints were to support selection of points. I dislike the use of a zero value dimensional constraint, and adding a construction line makes the sketch more complex.
So I just created this feature request: 2995: Sketcher horizontal/vertical constraints: implement their use to align points
Cheers,
Normand

Re: Sketcher: vertically align points
Just from your forum post i wasn't able to see what you're after, but after reading the bug tracker entryNormandC wrote:So I just created this feature request: 2995: Sketcher horizontal/vertical constraints: implement their use to align points
i have to say that this would be a very good idea (and something solidworks sketcher also has ...).
