Lines on Part faces

Postby jinky123 » Wed Apr 19, 2017 2:20 pm

My setup is :-
OS: Linux Mint 18 Sarah
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.16.6707 (Git)
Build type: None
Branch: releases/FreeCAD-0-16
Hash: 5465bc47c95db45e0be85dc0e2872419efadce0f
Python version: 2.7.12
Qt version: 4.8.7
Coin version: 4.0.0a
OCC version: 6.8.0.oce-0.17

I have been following the tutorial on http://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/index.php?title=Basic_Part_Design_Tutorial
the part so far has extra lines on it ( see attached screenshot) but the tutorial doesn't show these lines for some reason.
Then when one selects the back of the object the whole face isn't selected , I hope I have explained the problem I'm having.
Many Thanks.

from the page you linked:
Your model will have some extra lines on it compared to the images in this tutorial. To remove these extra lines, change to the OpenSCAD workbench, select Pocket001 from the hierarchy tree, and click the Refine Shape tool: OpenSCAD RefineShapeFeature.svg. This creates a refined version of the model that is parametrically linked to Pocket001 and so is also linked to the entire history of the model.
