Importing IGES/STEP geometries and editing them

Post by ravindra »

Hi,
I am a CFD Engineer wishing to use FreeCAD for geometry cleanup and geometry creation. I want to do some changes in an imported IGES file. Following are my requirements:

1. Check whether the faces are connected properly or not i.e check whether it is water tight. And if not how to merge/connect edges/faces.
2. How to get individual faces and edges.
3. Create fillets, Chamfers.
4. Create new surfaces using loft, sweep, fill holes, etc.

I observe that there are tutorials and videos to do operation like loft sweep, etc if I am freshly building the geometry from scratch in FreeCad, but if it's an external geometry, not much information is available.

It will be of immense help if anyone can help me on this front.
