Re: part union
In Part Design Workbench you always have only one object. The different elements in the tree show in fact only different features of always the same object. Think of them as different development states. In Part Design there is nothing to fuse and usually you should have only the last element in the tree visible. That is important to prevent forking in the dependency tree or, even worse, have cyclic dependencies.
If you have created two independent objects in Part Design you can switch to the Part Workbench and continue there with the desired Boolean union.

Re: part union
daer sir
I will explane better what i want freecad to do.
When i export a non solid object to a meshfile, the pockets disappear.
i found on internet, that you have to make it one part by the union operation.
When i do a select all and then the boolean union operation i get the message that it can give unexpected results.
According your explanation, the object is allready one object.
So how can i make it een mesh with pockets

Re: part union
When exporting select only the last state of your object, don't select the whole tree. When you export all elements you export those states filling the pockets as well.
(I wish I had something in real life filling always my pockets!)
