Realistic Weighted Tire

Post by Tailspin »

Greetings!

I am a newbie to FreeCad, but am making headway. I am using FreeCad 0.14 for Mac OSX.

Currently I am trying to figure out if there is a way to create a realistic compression effect on a tire. So it would look like it was supporting weight.

It really is something that needs to be done artfully in order to be convincing. The transformation must be smooth and the cross sections accurate.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance, as I am new to CAD and still in the learning curve.

Many thanks!

Use Part Sweep, generate a few cross-sections in sketcher, keep an eye on preserving the perimeter, and you'll be fine (unfortunately, there's no way to constrain perimeters in Sketcher, I thought on adding the support, you may become a reason to actually do it).
