Runtime error on ubuntu 8.04
The error is "libTKernel-6.3.0.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" . I guess that's a OpenCascade error and there is no such file in the deb package when I open it in the archive manager.
Re: Runtime error on ubuntu 8.04
Hi,
In fact opencascade 6.3 is not available on ubuntu 8.04... How did you install freecad? Did you by chance take an amd64 package from my site? If yes, you'll probably need to take an older package, since the newer are for debian and will give you many other errors on ubuntu.

Re: Runtime error on ubuntu 8.04
There is a package with the name "freecad_0.8.2237-1hardy1_i386.deb" in the downloads area . So mabe it should either be taken down or replaced with a working package since it probably doesn't have OpenCascade packaged in like in the revision 2008 hardy package .
Re: Runtime error on ubuntu 8.04
Hmm that's strange, I'll have a look...
Re: Runtime error on ubuntu 8.04
Hi,
there is an unofficial repository that offers backported packages for OpenCascade 6.3.0 for Hardy and Jaunty.
Please read this: http://www.opennovation.org/ubuntu/

Werner

Aha, very useful link, I didn't know that opennovation... Looks like it's Adam Powell who runs it!
Re: Runtime error on ubuntu 8.04
I installed the package from opennovation and now it works .
