Re: FreeCAD on the web
Hi all,
I have found an interesting project about robot. See ROBOPuppet.
They are talking about FreeCAD for construction of scaled sized of existing robot : http://www.iu.edu/~motion/robopuppet/me ... ction.html
I don't fully understand the whole project because of my english knowledge but take a look it's look intersting !

Very cool indeed. Those look like they would work equally as well in a river with no need for a dam. Could really bring power back to a more local level like that.saso wrote:https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ocea ... e-solution play the video and wait for it

Re: FreeCAD on the web
FreeCAD only seems to be used as a viewer in the video. When you look at the tree, there's a single element for the whole assembly.
Still, pretty cool.
I doubt this project will be fully funded...

Maybe they don't own a solidworks license or something, and didn't dare to show it on the video Keen eye Normand...normandc wrote:When you look at the tree, there's a single element for the whole assembly.

Re: FreeCAD on the web
Don't you love it when you see machine shops on videos and they look like operator rooms. Are they building anything? or do they just spend 24/7 cleaning and painting.
Re: FreeCAD on the web
good design is making things as simple as possible....not as complex. Moving components should rotate where possible not oscillate.
Imagine what this thing would look like after a few weeks in the sea! The marine life would make it dysfunctional. You would have to paint it with the most toxic anti-fouling paint. Some of that depends on the particular ocean. Tropical waters around most of Australia make a boat unusable within a year due to marine life on the hull, without sophisticated anti fouling paint. The best anti fouling paint is illegal because it is highly toxic...it was still legal on full size ships at one time, may still be, because it was seen as impractical to pull a full size ship out of the water every year to clean and repaint the hull. Private yachts and the like, in waters near Sydney are pulled out of the water annually for a hull clean and new anti-fouling paint.
I think its either a deliberate scam or a unqualified, naive dreamer.

Re: FreeCAD on the web
Contrary to Kickstarter, Indiegogo lets projects keep the funds they accumulated even if they fail to meet their set goal. Scam may very well be a possibility...
