Recently, @keithsloan52 brought us a fantastic idea about the program I-SIMPA viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18093.
I would like to inform the community that I-SIMPA can be build in Linux, and the python bindings can be imported to FreeCAD.
Bye

Re: acoustic freecad
excellent! now we just need a new accoustic workbench
Re: acoustic freecad
As it is FEM related... Is it not better to add I-simpa as optional solver?
Re: acoustic freecad
Yes. This is @keithsloan52 approach.Jee-Bee wrote:Is it not better to add I-simpa as optional solver?
For me is a little bit hard. I prefer to begin playing with the python bindings (the soft way).

I think that would be a good idea. Certainly in the short term as things Damian is planning will take quite a while.Jee-Bee wrote:As it is FEM related... Is it not better to add I-simpa as optional solver?
I am not familiar with the FEM workspace, but I am sure it would not take somebody familiar with it not too long.
The calculation program used spps has a manual but it is in French
Question is do we have a volunteer?
Re: acoustic freecad
I had a short look on their website...
I'm not sure if it is possible to use our current FEM mesh as import... or use FC as viewer...

First try to build it on OSX ... Since i'm not a programmer it is a good startImport 3D files
Import 3D files with common extensions: 3DS (3D Studio), STL (stereolithography), PLY (Stanford) and POLY (TetGen).
Re: acoustic freecad
when i look for spps i find molecular simulation software. i do not want to get deeper into acustic simulation, but i am interested whats behind this approch. are there any documents about it?

I thought FreeCAD FEM used STL so what is the problem?Jee-Bee wrote:I had a short look on their website...

Already tried to build for OSX barfs on spps build. No Unix equivalent timer function see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4033 ... sx-10-11-6 and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5167 ... n-mac-os-x
