acoustic freecad

Post by damian »

Recently, @keithsloan52 brought us a fantastic idea about the program I-SIMPA viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18093.

I would like to inform the community that I-SIMPA can be build in Linux, and the python bindings can be imported to FreeCAD.

As it is FEM related... Is it not better to add I-simpa as optional solver?

Yes. This is @keithsloan52 approach.
For me is a little bit hard. I prefer to begin playing with the python bindings (the soft way).

I think that would be a good idea. Certainly in the short term as things Damian is planning will take quite a while.
I am not familiar with the FEM workspace, but I am sure it would not take somebody familiar with it not too long.
The calculation program used spps has a manual but it is in French
Question is do we have a volunteer?

I had a short look on their website...
I'm not sure if it is possible to use our current FEM mesh as import... or use FC as viewer...
Import 3D files
Import 3D files with common extensions: 3DS (3D Studio), STL (stereolithography), PLY (Stanford) and POLY (TetGen).
First try to build it on OSX ... Since i'm not a programmer it is a good start ;)

I thought FreeCAD FEM used STL so what is the problem?

Already tried to build for OSX barfs on spps build. No Unix equivalent timer function :-( see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4033 ... sx-10-11-6 and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5167 ... n-mac-os-x
