OK, three votes so I just disabled the old forum.
It is ok for me, but now most links in the forum posts to other topics in the freecad-forum are going to nothing.
The forum topics have often links like: look into this topic for the solution. These links are now unusable.
It would be great, if all these links would be automatically updated to the new forum address.

Regards
Ulrich

Damn. I hadn't foreseen this. :?

I already asked here if it would be possible to update the links to the new forum. I'm pretty sure it is, but there would need to be a search and replace executed directly on the database.

And I think this shows it is absolutely required if we are to get rid of the old forum!

For now I re-enabled the old forum. It does not solves the problem we had, which is that even with a big warning at the top, people are still posting to it! ATM there are 11 guests reading the forum.

I just spent more than half an hour on the old forum's Administrator Control Panel to find a way to put it in read-only mode. The problem is I have limited permissions there compared to here.

And as I said, I am fed up with trying to point the stragglers to here, and I am the only one doing so. Not anymore. No one seems to care that people are still using the old forum, so I guess I won't care too.

I think I found a way to search and replace all links in the current forum, I'm backing up the DB now, for the case something goes wrong, then I'll try...

Ok I think it worked! Curiously some links still appear with the old SF address in the posts, (I guess there is some caching happening) but the links point correctly to the new forum.

Thanks Yorik, but it is not working for me.

See the links in these posts:

Do you have examples of links that point correctly to the new forum?

I guess what's tricky is that links to the old SF forum are secure (https) while the new forum isn't...
