Madeleine de Course Stellaire No16
Just pulled it out of storage, full parametric rebuild in 0.17. Now i just need to apply corners blends.
Re: Madeleine de Course Stellaire No16
Wow ... impressive.

Re: Madeleine de Course Stellaire No16
Shell, body, step export, standard fillets, and boolean check. (i dont remember what step exactly i did the export)
FreeCAD fillets are getting much stronger! there is still some funky business though. This is sad because two symmetric inputs yielded different results.
I don't mind too much because i was planning on doing my own fillets anyways!

Re: Madeleine de Course Stellaire No16
Some progress on my parametric G2 filleting system. Only showing the completed portions, so a lot of the model is missing. The actual 3 edge corner routines have not been rewritten yet, but i had a decent prototype back in may 2016, so i'm cautiously optimistic i can handle it.
Changing the underlying sketches of the overall body (see first post). So far, all these G2 blends are 'out of the box', and none of the manual optimization settings are used. I'm pretty happy with the result so far.

Live surface editing in sketch mode is fun
Like i said earlier, i think the default settings of the blends are working out well. I definitely looks good enough to rough out whether a design is going to work or not. The zebra at the blend seams is really good, but the center of the seams can get a little bit lumpy sometimes.
(pic below is back to original sketches)

Re: Madeleine de Course Stellaire No16
Blend of three faces (3 edges meet at one point)
A degenerate triangle patch was used to 'pull the ugly' out of the corner itself. The corner itself is a 6 by 6 cubic patch which is G2 to surrounding faces at its corners (less so in the middle of the borders).
The triangle itself is quite ugly at its degenerate corner (the zebra can be seen to fold over). It was written very quickly in order to test the 6X6 corner patch. It is a 6X4 cubic patch with one of the 6 point edges collapsed. I think that there are enough degrees of freedom left in its grid to improve the fit to the underlying base surface.

For my untrained eye, this seams just beautiful

Not as smooth as your pun though
I'll keep working at it

Got it a little further along. Thank you Quick61 for the Povray template! now i just need a non-degenerate triangle and a 5 branch star point strategy should be fun! maybe in another year lol.
