Re: Shoelast
Besides the weight of the poles for finetuning, can you drag the knots to change the geometry?

Re: Shoelast
The first method to change the geometry is to change the poles.kridhond wrote:Besides the weight of the poles for finetuning, can you drag the knots to change the geometry?
This can be done with the Sketcher (there the poles are the centres of the blue circles).
In uniform splines the knots have the same distance in the uv-parameter space.
Changing this leads to non uniform bsplines (Nurbs).
I think this will become possible sometime in the sketcher too.
So we will wait.

Re: Shoelast
At the moment I work with 18 pole profiles.
I still have to go through all 170 interpolation points to get the right starting model without extra sketcher support.
it's stupid but a shoe is not a bolt.

I wonder creating a surface with BsplineSurface.interpolate works but Loft brings unexpected results.

Re: Shoelast
the next functionality we needed: draw interactive onto a nonplanar surface

I'm looking for a better mouse/keyboard interface to get the Blender Grease Pencil.
My idea: select a face and start drawing with the mouse on it. The resulting curves lies on the face and can be postprocessed to a spline or something else.

Re: Shoelast
move the mouse and press a special key to add an interpolation point to the curve on the preselected surface

Hi there. Once again impressive work! If I could help with anything, let me know.
This new functionality isn't totally clear to me with respect to designing the last (what is it you're thinking about?) but maybe it would be very useful if you wanted to design the (leather) parts that would make up the final shoe.

Yes that's the reason.kridhond wrote:Hi there. Once again impressive work! If I could help with anything, let me know.

Our steps/tasks are:
1. adapt the model to the scan (stupid work, will be done on a late evening
2. methods to "pad" the last: high level methods for changing the ribs because nobody will change 15 poles (idea: like the Blender lattice operator)
3. methods to design the leather parts (for this the drawing method)
I have at the moment enough information, god give us time.

Re: Shoelast
curvature map as indicator how strong the leather must be deformed.
