Sorry to jump in late on this thread (just back from vacation).
Could you hold off on any renaming for another week or so ? I'm almost finished the FEM icon alignment and would really love to avoid a merge conflict!

:D yeah, been doing that for almost two years now, much smaller team than FreeCAD, but very tight knit and David (the author) is a genuine gentleman.

since the new FEM icons are in master, I'd like to come back to this.

Lot's of tool names changed in FEM and the icons needs to be adapted. I would use this to change the FEM icon name system. Lately I seam to prefere to rename the icons the same way than the commands are.

How about this?

I'll let more dev minded people weigh in on the naming scheme, but if any of the icons need to be adapted as a consequence, just note which ones and a quick one-liner as to how they need to be changed and I'll get to them.

it is just the icon name sheme I'm talking about. Do you have any preference? What would be best for the wiki, or does it not matter?!

I've no personal preference since i navigate by folder, a dev who navigates by string/name would be better placed to answer.
As for the wiki, i think it would require a run through which may be time consuming, but doable.
