Re: Tool Editor / Tool Table

For thread milling alpha would always be 60 degree. However, most thread mills don't run to a sharp point, so there's a "crest". But I'm starting to feel like this is becoming a fool's errand with forms and parameters with - to be honest - an endless variety. Even if we didn't consider turning tools...

Links vs. Clones

I started playing with links today and it occurred to me that they seem to work very similar to clones. I was wondering if there is a guide as to when use which? Or if links are gonna replace clones going forward?

Re: [DEV] Tool Editor GUI

I would like to continue discussion with ideas for improving the tool table and any existing issues that might need fixing first. Quite timely - I've been playing with a new operation that requires a tool that is not describable with the current parameters. I could misuse some that are not needed b...

Re: Simple engraving question

Hi, I enabled the experimental feature as suggested, and it creates a feature area outside the job. It seems to just contain a reference to the sketch made from the imported image plane. I cannot get a usable tool path generated from it. How do I generate a tool path? And what is a feature area any...

Re: Simple engraving question

I tried for quite a while with sketches, clones of sketches and more, but nothing showed up in the BaseFeature list. Finally I hit the Ok button of the engrave operation anyway and - surprise - the path was created :) . I was successful wit a sketch on top level of the tree using this as 2D geometr...

The Engrave operation is very focused on shapestrings; when I tried to use it with my art it generated nothing beyond the prefix and suffix codes. What operation should I be using?
The engrave op can also use a sketch or individual edges from a model or a sketch.

Re: Rotated holes result in different sized Helix tool paths.

There's indeed something funny happening here. The original diameter for me is 3.988, and after the recompute it's 4.000, and if I open the Helix again it's 3.988, again. In fact it was 4.000 exactly once - I'm almost tempted to chalk it off as wishful thinking. My testing is rather limited, I keep ...

Re: Rotated holes result in different sized Helix tool paths.

Its really getting on my nerves that there is so much resistance to change in this forum, there is always a lot of blow back even when fixing things that are clearly bugs. your definition of "clearly bugs" seems to be combination of personal preferences and assumptions. How about some engineering p...

Re: Rotated holes result in different sized Helix tool paths.

AFAICT the issue is not with Path, it seems to be with the model. If it is with Path, write a unit test that shows the problem and proves the fix.
