Re: Using sketch to cut a profile through pad in Part Design 0.17

Thank you again NormandC. Your example has explained a lot to me, I can see now how a datum plane can be used in 3d space attached to the default planes, offset from them a placed at and angle. Don't worry your hand drawing looks a bloody lot better than what mine would. BTW pretty sure in Australia...

Ok I think I understand better now. Datum planes a designed to be attached to sketch.

Re: Using sketch to cut a profile through pad in Part Design 0.17

You are correct, I apologise but I do not follow.

How do you place a datum plane in 3d space if not to an object, or in someway referenced to an object?
Would you be kind enough to throw up an example?

It's better - but if the datum plane itself is attached to a face, then it defeats the whole purpose.
So when a datum plane is in the same plane as a face it should be offset from the face?

Re: Using sketch to cut a profile through pad in Part Design 0.17

NomandC, Big thank you. I now have the desired result. I had not realised that I had the lines drawn over multiple times, nor did I know what the trim edge tool was for. For what is worth I had tried to use the pocket tool initially but then when it wasn't working thought the loft tool must of been ...

Using sketch to cut a profile through pad in Part Design 0.17

Is this the wrong approach? I've created, in Part Design, a sketch of a profile and than padded it out. I then created another sketch to use to 'cut' a shape in that pad. Checked the geometry of the sketch and nothing found to be a problem. I've tried using subtractive loft but for me it doesn't app...

Re: Techdraw - add part to existing mulitview

ah ha. Thank you Wanderfan.

Just for those doing this, you need to select all the parts you want and and add the one previously missed, otherwise if you click just the object you want to add and do not include the others it will remove them from the view.

Techdraw - add part to existing mulitview

Is it possible to add a part to an existing multiview of multiple parts? For example I created new page, selected parts and page, than selected View of muliple parts. Oriented to the view I wanted and appeared how I liked, however I want to add another part to this exsting view. Or do I simply need ...

Ok thank you for the explanation jmaustpc.

I had tried to used a datum plane initially but was getting message about 'links out of scope' or simlar.

The Dwire is open. It looks like it is closed when Structure001 is visible.
Hey Willem, I'm unsure again why it shows that way for you, as when I open it on my machine and hide objects in its background, the loop is closed.

Here is another screenshot
