Re: Help-Unable to mesh - Tutorial 1 elbow

Dear Oliveroxtoby, As the output message on the report view is too long, I have attached the report with this message. Very strange. Works fine for me, apparently with the same version of gmsh. Please could you supply your FreeCAD version information as requested in the guidelines mentioned previou...

Re: Help-Unable to mesh - Tutorial 1 elbow

Hello Oliveroxtoby, I have uploaded the file and please find the file from the link below. I have tried to run the tutorial several times with different mesh size (1.5m, 1m, 800mm) but was not successful. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1hIJXDumGO3YNFaXePflcHVC-uqnFGtJo If you are able to help or ...

Re: Help-Unable to mesh - Tutorial 1 elbow

Hello, I am new to the software and CFD and I am using FreeCAD 0.18. I tried to run the mesh and it takes ages and end up with ' meshing exited with error'. Tutorial http://www.opensim.co.za/training.html Mesh Setting: Element Dimension:3D Mesh Utility: gmsh Base Element size:1.5m Report view pop u...

Re: Simulation do not converge

Thx oliveroxtoby, I will try to remodel the case. By the way: I read somewhere that for the outlet pressure condition the value is meant to be the pressure devided by the density. Is that right ? Altough there is "Pa" in the unit field ? No, CfdOF does the conversion for you. You always specify pre...

Re: Basic question to data storage

Hi all, can anybody tell me where Freecad / CFDOF saves the calculated data of a simulation ? (p-filed, U-field etc.) I tried to figure it out from the messages in the solver window but not with the most success. In my opinion it has to be somehwere under C./.../bluecfd.../openfoam .X..../, but not...

Re: Simulation do not converge

In every case the pressure residual was always arround 10^-1 (not good). In the actual case also the residual for the turbulence energy was too high. (in the actual simulation I called the simulation after 3 hours or more of running). Therefore I have several questions: (1) What is my failure by al...

Re: cfmesh failing to mesh heat sink properly

All of the fins are captured if I use gmsh or snappyhexmesh. Is there something special I need to do to mesh between the fins with cfmesh? Thanks! There should not be. Are you able to share the geometry to test with? Sorry for the delay, had to make sure I had permission. This is the exact model an...

Re: Unknown patchField type characteristicWallPressure

Hello cfdOFoamers! After successfully solved the elbow tutorial, I simply tried to switch from Incompressible to Compressible + high Mac number, but this lead to an early error (message below). Any idea? elbow_DP.FCStd Here is the Foam error message --> FOAM FATAL IO ERROR: Unknown patchField type ...

CfdOF update

There has recently been significant cleaning up and refactoring of the code. In the process, the internal object formats have been rationalised and made more consistent. This has unfortunately broken file format compatibility, both for .FCstd files and also macros. The idea was to revamp across the ...
