Re: Assembly3 preview

is there a way to call the link selection dialog DlgPropertyLink from the python console ? And have it return the object to be linked, but not actually making the link ? I am afraid that's not possible for DlgPropertyLink, as it is tightly related to the property editor. What I specifically wish to...

Are building instructions not changed since last updated August 2018?
BTW, I saw you implemented implicit elements, thx very much I'm going to test it soon.

Regards.
No change. And you are welcome.

Re: Assembly3 preview

[nice, I tested it with my asm_V4 assembly: your solver is much faster when executing the macro (rotation of the camshaft), something like ×3. I compiled with Py3, yours is Py2: does this explain the difference, or did you optimise the code ? I am not sure. I didn't do anything special about the Py...

Re: Assembly3 preview

New asm3 version are released . One thing to take NOTE . This version will auto migrate your assembly files, and you will not be able to open those migrated files in my older release. Please remember to BACKUP your files first! Please checkout the release note and the demo video links inside. There ...

Re: assembly without solver

Cool, and thanx. May-be it would be useful to include 55a4f78ad , that enables the " create Datum Coordinate System " (LCS) in the toolbar ? See here in the forum Sure, I can cherry pick that commit. My branch is about one month lag behind upstream. It is becoming increasingly difficult for each me...

Do you plan to release a new AppImage with these features ?
Yeah, I am doing it these few days, creating demos and fixing some bugs along the way. Hopefully I can make a release this weekend. Nice job, BTW!

Re: Assembly3 preview

One of those elementary question still remain unanswered - why the files are opened in the first place? I.e. you don't show a configuration text file to user, when you're reading configuration lines from it. Neither when you write a configuration. Is it because you're writing into the part files th...

Re: Assembly3 preview

In fact I think that your idea of storing elements in part works makes sense to me, but only for what are normally known as "published features" or we may also call them as "explitely declared interfaces". Other elements (we make call them implicit interfaces) which, are cretaed by the assembly whe...

Re: Assembly3 preview

In most other commercial CAD (I am sure about Catia but I think that also other work in the same way) you do not need to open the part/sub-assembly file in order to add a contraint on it. In my view the fact that in FC, you may not do that (when the new constraint involves the creation of a new ele...

Re: Assembly3 preview

I think it's OK for development, but a show-stopper for a finished Assembly WB. Just with my mid-sized assemblies during testing of the last release, I had often some 30+ files opened and it's already a mess... When you finished working with a lower level part/assembly, you can freeze it, so that i...
