Re: from STL to NURBS ( Solid)

- am i asking for something completely impossible nowaday ? Yes Sir! :) It is not possible to convert imported stl-files to a "smooth" body with Freecad. You can convert the stl to a solid, thats right. But when you have an stl with thousends of facets, you cant use the FEM-Workbench. For...

Re: from STL to NURBS ( Solid)

Hi, see this https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?t=14136 Hi willem, thanks doing this, with a big number of faces mesh, freecad freezes for hours and, at the end, the solid is not made of NURBS but many small surfaces, the same of the mesh, also on big planar surfaces. Is there a way to conv...

from STL to NURBS ( Solid)

Hi all, i'm using freeCad and Calculix to perform topological optimization (TO) of components. My big issue is that after the TO the results is a rough mesh. Smoothing isn't a real problem, the big issue come when i would like to obtain a solid back, to design some added feature or restart the TO wi...

Re: Topology optimization

how can i convert the frd mesh into a handable mesh (stl??) and then go back to a solid with freecad?? Use FreeCAD to open the frd. A FEM mesh and a result object will be created. Select the FEM mesh --> Menue FEM --> Utilities --> FEM mesh to mesh. You will have a FreeCAD mesh than. This one could...

Re: Topology optimization

For a longer time I was working on a topology optimization script using CalculiX. I have uploaded the project to the GitHub https://github.com/fandaL/beso so if someone is interested, you can follow description there and try it. Current state is that I tested it on very simple examples; theoretical...
