Re: Question in Youtube video on quite popular channel

Thanks, hadn't seen that.
As the video creator is participating there I would suggest that all further discussion move to that thread

Re: Question in Youtube video on quite popular channel

Dammit, there's another one right at the end: https://youtu.be/7XXnulyKPNI?t=3275 He says the fillet feature seems a little more limited vs Solidworks, which he said will automatically taper down a radius if you're in a tight edge or corner. He's wondering if this is possible in FreeCAD? No pressure...

Re: Question in Youtube video on quite popular channel

Brilliant, thanks very much.

Alas, a little further on, I came across a second question:
https://youtu.be/7XXnulyKPNI?t=2546

Is it possible to mirror part of a sketch?
To avoid having to construct a mirror image of part of a sketch manually.

Question in Youtube video on quite popular channel

https://youtu.be/7XXnulyKPNI?t=1070 A question was put out in the above video "FreeCAD Tutorial for SolidWorks Users" by user "JOKO Engineering". Re: Freecad advance course wanted.

Jitsi-Meet is a great open source solution for this sort of thing:

Just type in your browser address bar for example: https://meet.jit.si/my-freecad-lesson

and send the link to anyone you wish to join the conference.

You don't have to create an account, or create the room in advance etc.

Re: A flawed CAD challenge

Low cost tools are not just about money, they are about spreading the wealth of what a tool can do. Nothing better than supporting inspiration! I do contract work so I go visit the big boys with their $10K CAD systems, the company pays for the workstation, maintenance contracts, computers, offices,...

Re: About funding and all that

I propose that we apply to SFC (it's a simple email) and see where it goes. Kurt, I think you should send the email. Werner, Yorik and Bernd are the top 3 committers on github, would any of you mind being designated as the project leaders to manage any prospective funding? Any future collaboration w...

Re: About funding and all that

The lack of a structure for project funding as a whole could lead to missed opportunities. For example KDE received a $300k donation recently, it's not unthinkable for the same thing to happen here. I believe it was mentioned that we could approach The Document Foundation or similar and ask them to ...
