Re: PPA OCCT 7.2/7.3 freecad-daily

I've run into the same issue, seems FreeCAD 0.17 has been updated to OCC 7.3 but the daily dev 0.18 is still on 7.2. The OCC installer tries to overwrite one version with the other and fails (tried it both ways). So I think at the moment you can have EITHER the 0.17 stable or the 0.18 daily dev inst...

Re: How to run the freecad-python scripts in the command line?

Hi Tom28, On my machine, all I need to do is add the path to the FreeCAD libraries to the system path and then import FreeCAD from there. I add the following code block at the top of my scripts with the rest of my module imports. -GSR # ---------------------------------------------------------------...

Re: Projected Surface in 2D

I was curious how much this approach would depend on image resolution so I threw together the attached quick test using the simple binary image approach. The noisy convergence at lower image resolutions is due to binarizing the anti-aliased image that comes out of FreeCAD so there's a larger swing i...

Re: Projected Surface in 2D

Leatherman and GSR , the image processing approach is indeed one possibility , I never imagined that this was possible! It seems quite complex to execute every time when I need the projected surface. Did you already tried this function out in the past? I've done similar image processing/blob detect...

Re: Projected Surface in 2D

Depending on your precision requirements, it might be possible to do this via an image processing approach. Display only the surface of interest in a view normal to the desired projection plane, set the window background to white and save out an image. A cruder approximation might be to then binariz...

Re: Elliptical arc segment constraints

Hi NormandC, I've definitely always made an effort to have 'matched' sketch chains for lofting since FC doesn't yet have user-generated vertex mapping. I'm pleased to report that things seem to be working now. Based on your previous guidance to not worry so much about the missing coincidences, I rev...

Re: Elliptical arc segment constraints

Hi NormandC, Thanks for the information, glad to know (and learn) that those missing coincidences aren't a big deal. I had assumed my lofting issue was due in some way to those, but perhaps it's something else I've overlooked as a result of focusing there (maybe using too many profiles per loft, run...

Elliptical arc segment constraints

I'm running into an issue properly constraining a sketch with multiple elliptical arc segments in it, hoping someone can give me some pointers as to what I'm doing wrong here. Basically, the issue is that if an arc is generated without exposing the internal geometry, there seems to always be one unc...
