Re: From FreeCAD To The Real World

The mixer knob on my shower mixer broke completely. Printed this as a replacement part. Works very well and is way cheaper than buying the replacement.

It's a very simple design but perhaps someone gets inspired. Maybe as a beginner exercise in freecad!

Re: [PartDesign] Using shared Sketch in two bodies

I'm not entirely sure what you want to do. Is it something like this?: https://youtu.be/3vaX63rz08g
It's a 3 part series. That's one way of reference one sketch.

Re: Difficulties following Part Design Tutorial

I agree, you probably have a different navigation style selected. I find "gesture" or "touchpad" to be most intuitive but that's personal preference. And the grid can be confusing. My preferred method is to draw the first line, fully constrain it (or at least dimension it) to get...

Re: simplifying sketch

Is there a specific reason you can't try this in 0.19? There's some major improvements made. I know I had some issues with complex b-splines that works a bit better in 0.19. Also +1 one using Inkscape in your workflow. Maybe do the entire "sketch" there as a start, simplify and then import...

Re: Shapebinder and Construction geometry

Your shapebinder object is derived from a pad, or any extrusion, using driving geometry from a sketch. This is discouraged technique. You should never use generated geometry for references, if you want to make your model robust against the topologcal naming problem . Was not describing a technique ...

Re: Shapebinder and Construction geometry

Hello! Trying to understand your problem. Your shapebinder object is derived from a pad, or any extrusion, using driving geometry from a sketch. Construction geometry is non-driving so it doesn't appear in the resulting shape and therefore not in the shapebinder. Concerning your other question it's ...

Re: I just want to cut a body with an outline of a sketch

I am sorry guys, i spent several minutes googeling, but I dont know how to update to FreeCAD 0.19 using Linux mint. 0.18.4 is the latest release for me. FreeCAD does not seem to have a menu entry for updating or maybe it is hidden in some weird workspace but as with the rest of the software, discov...
