Re: noob question
My 2 cents.. It is very cool that there are many ways to achieve the same outcome, but this makes the learning curve much higher (I speak from Newb experience, this is day 7 for me using FreeCad, lol). If the workbench has all the tools needed right in front of ya (easy to find) then the program bec...

Re: noob question
Looking good! :) This is for a NEMA-17 stepper motor right? Yup, when I built my Prusa I had problems with the Z lead-screws, so I bought new screws and those Alu Flex Couplers. Well the flex was too flexi and I bought 2 thrust bearings and then made motor lifter plates for the Z motors and since I...

Re: noob question
Another quick question... I need to add hexagon pockets to the model for the captured nuts. Is there an easy way or am I going to have to draw them out (which doesn't sound like a lot of fun)? This is what I got so far if anyone is interested.. http://en.zimagez.com/miniature/freecadday006-2.j...

Re: noob question
Well I successfully went back in the model and corrected the slots. When I couldn't get it to work Norms way (b/c I was stupid and forgot the Auto Constraints needed to be off) I did it the long way and just kept adding features to the model. This caused me a little grief b/c I couldn't figure out h...

Re: noob question
The problem you're having with the slot is probably caused by the tangent auto constraint that kicks in too soon. The dev responsible for the sketcher is aware of it. (Here's the bug report ) A workaround would be to disable auto constraining (there's a tick box in the Task panel when in sketch edi...

Re: noob question
Yeah for the life of me I just don't understand how exactly you did the slots  I must be over thinking it. I thought when you said it grabs the arc instead of the whole thing that your using the 2 points on either side to get your slot (3mm wide).. IDK, I'm screwing it all up. I'll keep tinker...

Re: noob question
I was looking through the forum trying to figure out why I can't seem to understand/replicate Norms tut (the part about the External geometry tool and the circle, in his tut he selects 1/2 the circle, when I do it it selects 3/4) and found some topics about FreeCad and STL's. Is FreeCad broken to th...

Re: noob question
Ok, now that I got my point across I hope Here ya go! Thanks - Okay I downloaded the file and unzipped it to extract the two files. I then opened Testrun.scad in FreeCAD and it loaded just file. :D Well it looks just fine to me. Obviously ImportCSG.py created boolean CSG model rather than sketches....

Re: noob question
Don't hesitate to ask questions if you need clarifications. Hey Norm, I'm working on the "lesson" you posted for me above and I can say I feel alot less intimidated by FreeCad then I did yesterday. I have had a few issues though. After I got a few steps into the tut I realized I needed to...

Re: noob question
Is the original OpenSCAD scad file available. I would like to use it as test case for the FreeCAD import of scad files Sure, but be warned I only started using Openscad like a week or two ago, lol.. Its actually 2 files (the object and the config) so I don't know if that will screw up what your try...
