Re: Looking for advice on how to plan for rotation then boolean operation
@drmarco - beautiful... https://wiki.freecadweb.org/Topological_naming_problem I watched a couple videos on this. So if there is no way to avoid it with the sheetmetal workbench, how can I "unfold" a drawing at the end to transfer the data to a plasma table? I started adding datum planes t...

Re: Looking for advice on how to plan for rotation then boolean operation
Did you do the bend in Sheetmetal workbench? Yes, I do. Also, have you attached sketches to faces? Un-sure. At this point I have been creating a sketch, then using the part-designer to "pad" it. I took these steps because they were taken in the video where they guy used sheetmetal workben...

Re: Looking for advice on how to plan for rotation then boolean operation
The files I've attached: -1 is done in Part workbench completely -2 is done mixing Part Design and then using Part workbench Mirror to produce a second component. drmacro - I'm looking at the files you uploaded. Its amazing how many different ways there are to come to the same solution. Questions f...

Re: Looking for advice on how to plan for rotation then boolean operation
Pad in Part Design workbench is similar to Extrude in Part workbench. But, they are different. When you create a PD Body, you have defined a container that will contain a single, solitary, cumulative solid. Each feature (Pad/Pocket/etc. operation) in the Body is cumulative (and the result of each f...

Re: Looking for advice on how to plan for rotation then boolean operation
Im not sure if creating a "pad" in Part Design is synonymous with "extruding" but something Im finding is if I want to mirror an object, the direction that the padding is built in is important. I expect need my sketch to be on the inside of the object so I can then specify the di...

Re: Looking for advice on how to plan for rotation then boolean operation
You would not rotate, you would rather mirror the whole object. The rotation itself is not a reference to duplicating the tab. If you envision the bolt going through the mount holding a control arm. That bolt is not parallel to the axle tube. It will be 10 to 15 degrees off in either direction depe...

Looking for advice on how to plan for rotation then boolean operation
So I am trying to learn how to use FreeCAD. Being doing pretty well with some video watching and reading. I am attempting to create something similar to this image: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0549/2060/9998/products/adjtower2_1800x1800.jpg?v=1668696423 The bracket in the image is made for a s...

Re: Need suggestions on how I can make this part (similar to washer)
openBrain - I have reset the radius constraints and the tab width, as well as the hole size. hub_blank2.png I am guessing that the blue lines that show an angle going upward are to define the width or maybe the angle of the outsides of the tab. Could you explain it to me? I see your latest post abou...

Re: Need suggestions on how I can make this part (similar to washer)
Here it's a bit of my fault. Kisolre found the culprit. It comes from the way I constrainted the "ears". When you increase things, the fillet radius are so big that they "eat" the ear straight sides, which is invalid. I propose a more robust way of constraining the ears in the a...
