Re: Any tool to check and point "broken face" in a sketch?
For me, as an un-experienced user, this is an example of where I think error messages with more information would really help. I think there's no reason the messages have to be so short, and in fact a link to a more detailed section of the help file would really be appreciated. I like that about Vis...

Re: How can I convert my sketch to a body in PartDesign
So do you recommend new users to start with 0.16? From what I have read here, if someone wants to ask questions in the forum they always want us to use the latest version. And that gave me an idea, maybe we need a trimmed-down version of FreeCad, like a FreeCad-lite for people who just want to use i...

Re: How can I convert my sketch to a body in PartDesign
Thanks for all the suggestions, I was able to get a couple of them to work, but not the others for some reason. I know this isn't the place to comment on FreeCad itself, but at 3 of my local FabLabs / Hackerspaces, they teach Fusion 360 and I was suggesting that they also teach FreeCad since it's op...

Re: How can I convert my sketch to a body in PartDesign
So are you saying I can't add or import a sketch into a body in PartDesign? That seems like a major problem because Part workbench can't do all the things you can do in PartDesign.

How can I convert my sketch to a body in PartDesign
Hi all, thanks for helping. I spent a few hours searching for the answer, but I had to finally come here. I use FreeCad infrequently, although I had so far created about 8 parts in the last 2 years that I could successfully print, but they were in version 0.16 Now in 0.18 some things looked unfamili...

Re: How to join or union 2 parts to make one part
Thanks so much. I have to catch a train, so I'll look more closely at it tomorrow and go through all the steps you described, but I did check your file and it's exactly what I wanted.

How to join or union 2 parts to make one part
I have done lots of searching and reading about joining and unions and compounds but so far I can not figure out how to do something that seems quite simple: I want to connect (join, union or whatever might be the right term) these two solids which I made in part design. I want to join them at the m...

Re: Will these nested tubes print as one solid without gaps?
Thanks GeneFC, that ctrl-D transparency is great. It's also especially great when I have a complex part with features inside larger bores and pockets because then I can see them more easily. So far I've been having trouble getting precise cross sections, and it takes lots of steps, whereas the trans...

Re: Will these nested tubes print as one solid without gaps?
Thanks both of you for the valuable info. Your comments made me see that there are quite a few things to consider when designing in FreeCAD. Also, I hadn't considered making a cross section to see if it is solid. Would you consider this a reliable method to see if there are any gaps in the solid? I'...

Will these nested tubes print as one solid without gaps?
I just started using FreeCad a few days ago. I've done several tutorials, and now I am designing my first part. I spent a couple hours searching for an answer to this seemingly simple question, but I couldn't find anything definitive. So I made a simple file I attached which isolates just the questi...
