Re: Constraints for single part from assembly

Hi, maybe Macro_Repro_Wire https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/images/thumb/a/a3/Macro_ReproWire.png/32px-Macro_ReproWire.png thanks for the hint! I am not sure whether this is what I am looking for. It's not the shape I want to copy, I actually want to use existing features such as faces to determine t...

Re: Constraints for single part from assembly

You can have a body in the assembly file as well. It is a pity that Pad up to face does not work for ShapeBinders, so you have to calculate the height of the pad yourself. Thanks for the hint! Here is a screenshot of what the scenario looks like now: router-lift-body.png Adding a body (2) to my ass...

Did you try a PartDesign ShapeBinder?
I think that ShapeBinder is only suitable for scenarios with actual bodies in the document. In my case, I only have an assembly with no (active) body at all.

thanks for your quick reply and the hint. So far, I didn't give it a try. Hopefully it also works with assemblies.

I'll keep you posted!

Constraints for single part from assembly

Hi, I am currently designing a lifting mechanism for my router. All parts live in separate .fcstd files and are assembled using the Assembly2 extension. The current state of my assembly can be found here: Router-Lift on github . Now, I want to add another part (to be 3D printed) that goes between th...

Re: Assembly2 Segfault when Importing a part

Hi, my "workaround" to this problem was to use something different than Assembly2. Maybe A2plus is something for you: https://github.com/kbwbe/A2plus https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=29207 Appart from not causing the aforementioned SEGFAULT, A2plus seams to be superior to Assembly2 ...

Re: From FreeCAD To The Real World

Hi chrisb, Those generic toys are great. I will wait for the image in the folded state because I still dont understand what's going on at the top, where both vertical stands seem to be on the same level. Dont forget to take the children out of the tent when you fold it  hehe, that's a good hi...

Re: From FreeCAD To The Real World

Nice. How does it fold? There are two "halves": one with 7 rungs and one with 6. The side with 7 rungs can move around the 2nd rung from the top. That means that the small two wooden plates (the ones that have a trapezoidal shape) are glued to the side with 6 rungs, but not to the side with 7. Hope...

Re: From FreeCAD To The Real World

I am into woodworking occasionally. Thanks to FreeCAD it is possible for me to construct my designs before doing the actual build. :-) This is a so called "Pickler-Dreieck" (triangle) that supports children when learning to walk and climb. It is foldable and it is glued together, so no screws have b...

There actually is a way to do that:

works for me. Thanks once more! :-)
